Sanctity of Marriage?

There are still some people in America (and the world) today that still believe that a family is a man, woman, and kids. And thats it. Many people believe that if gay people are allowed to get married then they will ruin the sanctity of marriage. But what I think is that straight people have been ruining it for themselves for decades.

Straight people get divorced everyday. One third of men cheat on their wives. One quarter of women cheat on their husbands. More than 50% of marriages will be impacted by a spouse being unfaithful. Pardon my language, but that's a shit ton.

There is now a tv show where people get married at first sight. What?!? Are you kidding me? Kayla and I have been dating for over two and a half years but we still can't get married in our home state. But these heterosexual couples can meet for the first time and get married on the spot. They don't even know each other's name until they say "I do". How is that preserving the sanctity of marriage? That's beyond me.

When Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries they were married for 72 days. But she's still allowed to get married and divorced multiple times. But a couple of gays get married and it ruins the sanctity of marriage. No, you're right. I totally get it.

Britney Spears married Jason Alexander for a total of 55 hours. Yep. HOURS. They were intoxicated and Britney said "Hey let's get married". Jason responded "Okay, yeah sure let's do this." OH. But I've been thinking about my wedding with Kayla for two years now. 1,286 pins on my Wedding pinterest board later and I still can't get married. But someone who had a drunken thought on New Years eve can get married.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sitting in front of my tv every Monday night waiting for the latest episode. But this entire show is about a man or woman dating 26 people of the opposite sex at the same time. And at the end of the 6 weeks, someone gets down on one knee and proposes. They supposedly love each other at the end of this. As of right now there are still 5 couples from all 28 seasons combined. That's including Juan Pablo and Nikki. But we all know they won't last.

It makes me actually laugh when I hear people say that gay people will ruin the sanctity of marriage while heterosexual couples have been doing so much damage for years. With divorce, adultery, short lived marriages, abuse, etc it's nearly impossible that gay people can do anything worse. I'm not saying gay people don't divorce or cheat on their partners, but if straight people are allowed to get married and do that, then why can't gay people.

Do you think gay people will ruin the sanctity of marriage?

  1. I personally believe in heterosexual marriages (not trying to offend/disrespect you, that's just my belief), but I do agree with you when you say that marriage has already been made a mockery of by numerous people. Marriage is a sacred union created by God, but people tend to forget that nowadays. Guess folks just don't care anymore....

  2. It's so stupid. There is no sanctity of marriage anymore! I don't understand why people are so concerned about who other people love. If you don't like gay marriages, don't have one! Simple ;)

  3. It sucks. Eventually there will be marriage equality in all the states. I get pissed off when people try to defend their reasons why marriage equality isnt legal. (and most of the time there reasoning is simply rediculious) Your right with the fact that no one takes marriage seriously. What TV show is it where people get married on the spot?

And I think it's called Married at First Sight but I'm not sure. I saw it on the news, but I've never seen it!
