August Book Club

Last month I announced the first ever PLL book club book. It was:

If you read it comment below and tell me what you thought!

Personally, I really liked the book. I heard so much about it beforehand, many people recommended it on blogs, and some of my friends too. So I thought I would try it. I think it was a little over played. Or maybe I just got my hopes up a little bit. It wasn't really what I thought it was going to be. The entire book is told in letters, emails, etc with a little narration in between.

It took me a while to actually get into the book, but I started reading one afternoon at Kayla's and literally didn't put it down until I finished! Overall, it was a good book! What did you think?

Now it's time to announce

I know, I know. It's a John Green book and everyone seems to be reading John Green books. But I'm not hearing as much about this one as his other ones. My sister has read all of his books and loves them. The only ones I've read of John Green's books are: The Fault in Our Stars (obviously), Looking For Alaska (amazing) and An Abundance of Katherines (eh). So I thought I would Paper Towns a try.

If you're interested in participating in this month's book club book leave a comment below! Or if you've already read it, and willing to participate in a discussion if enough people are joining in!

I can't wait to get started!

  1. I'm definitely on the fence with Paper Towns, it's a good book but expect more. I would love to hear what you think of it in the end!

  2. Paper Towns was ok, I think my favorite was An Abundance of Katherine's, though! But nowadays when I try reading John Green books I feel a bit too old for them. I felt a lot more connected to them in my teen years! I also read Where'd You Go, Bernadette earlier this year. It was entertaining, but like you said, it was not what I was expecting from when I picked it up. I was hoping for comedy, but I'd say it's about 40% comedy with the rest being drama.

    1. Honestly, my least favorite was Abundance of Katherines! I just couldn't really get into it! I feel the same way about John Green books. As I grow older I can't connect to them as much!

I agree about Bernadette! I was thinking it would be narrative instead of letters and such. Still an okay book though!
